Cause and Effect

On Monday 20^th March, we studied “Cause and Effect”. Then she explained about cause and effect. Next, the teacher assigned us to do “practice” and “skill practice 1” in the handout.

    

Next, she began to explain us about cause and effect. And then, she read “text example” and “practice” for us. After that, she explained discourse markers of “cause and effect”.

    

And then, the teacher told us to do “skill practice 2” in the handout. After we did it finished, she gave us the corrective feedback of skill practice 2. 

Next, the teacher told us to read “The effect of stress” and answer questions below the text.

I think that the effect of stress activity was difficult for me because of I found many difficult words.

I think that skill practice 1 was easy. Because of I just find the word.

I used discourse marker of cause and effect for finding the answers .

I summery about cause and effect for I understand it.

Comparison and Contrast continues (week 9)

Comparison and Contrast continues

On Monday 13^th March, we studied “Comparison and Contrast” continued, the teacher was the text 2 in the handout. So, I check with answers were not different.

After that, we set the chairs for preparing about the mid-term test.

I think the mid-term test of this course was not difficult for me because of I can do it.

    In addition, I used finding the discourse marker for reading the text. So, it made me comprehend the text easily.

I summery about comparison and contrast for I understand it.

Homework:

    A: Do you agree with Tannen’s views on the subject? Be specific about your points of disagreement.

•   Yes, I agree with Tannen’s view.

    

    B: Are any of Tannen’s points about the different personalities of men and women true in your native culture? Explain. Do men and women in your native culture use the language the way Tannen claims American men and women do? Give specific examples.

Procedure continues and Comparison and Contrast (week 8)

"Procedure continues" and " Comparison and Contrast"

On Monday 6th March, I studied “Procedure” and “Comparison and Contrast, the teacher told us to talk with friends about “what did I do on weekend?” After that, she read the text 3 in the handout and then she read it finished, she opened words that helped us for pronouncing them accurately such as:

•   ensure (v.) /ɪnˈʃɔːr/ = to make something certain to happen.

•   disposal (n.)  /dɪˈspəʊ.zəl/ = the act of getting rid of something,        especially by throwing it away.

Next, she told us to open the first page of this handout. So, it was about the “purpose”, “types of procedural texts”, - The purpose of the procedure is to tell the reader how to do or make something. Types of procedural texts are explain how something works or how to use instruction/operation manuals, and that instruct how to do a particular activity.

Next, the teacher showed us the new reason that was “Comparison and Contrast”. Then, she told   On the other hand,

Next, the teacher read and explained it. Then she gave us the new handout that was about “Comparison and Contrast”. After that, she told us to read the text 1 in the handout. After we read it finished, she told us to do the activity in this

I think that compare the things that are difficult for me because of I couldn’t choose the best word for comparison. It had many word to use.

On the other hand, I think exercises 1-5 in the procedure are easy for me.

On Monday 20th February, after the teacher came to the classroom, she checked our name that who absented for this course because on that day we had to do the quiz 1. Then, she told us to talk about “the foods that I had ever cooked”.

Next, she opened the video of “Jamie Oliver” that he was cooking “the perfect omelet”. Next, she opened other videos that she had ever watched for cooking at abroad on the YouTube. 

And then, she gave us the handout that was about “Procedure”. After she told us to do the activities in the handout.

After we did it finished, she told us that “this is the time to do the test (quiz 1). We started to do the test (quiz 1).

Today I think the activities in the handout were easy for me because I could do it correctly.

I think that the test (quiz 1) was difficult for me. Because I must use much time for do it.

I use finding references and guessing the meaning of words for reading and doing the test.

On Monday 6th February, I learned about “Descriptive” that was continued from the last week. Next, she told us to talk about “What did you learn last week?” Then she explained and read this story for us. Then, she told us to do the activities for this text.

And then, the teacher taught us to pronounce the words as the native speaker by using the Cambridge Dictionary. So, the words that she opened were;

•   archipelago (n.)  /ˌɑː.kɪˈpel.ə.ɡəʊ/ = a group of small islands or an area     of sea in which there are many small islands
•   glorious (adj.) /ˈɡlɔː.ri.əs/ = very beautiful

Next, she told us to read the text 2 “Budapest”. After we did it finished, she told to read the text 3. It is “Prague” that is the city in Europe. After I finished read, she told us to do the activity below this text.

Finally, the teacher explained the purpose of Descriptive So, it’s “to describe and reveal a particular person’ place, or thing”.

After I finished this lesson, I think text 4 is easy for me because I could read it understandably.

In addition, I think I found many difficult words that I didn’t know the meaning. 

I used skimming, scanning, and finding references to comprehend the texts.

On Monday 30^th January, This was a fifth of this subject. I learned “Narrative” continued from yesterday and I started to learn “Descriptive”. Before I studied the teacher asked “What did we do yesterday”. After she taught and explain us about Narrative. First of all, she made us know the purpose of Narrative is to entertain gain.Then she told that “Narrative is finished and we will start Descriptive”.

Then, she opened the pictures and told us to describe each picture. So, we had to tell “the type of the animal”, “appearance”, and “diet”.

And then, she gave us the new handout that was the “Descriptive”.  And then, she told us to add the information from the handout onto the diagram that I drew. Finally, the teacher told me to do that for the homework. 

I think the description of the animals was easy for me because it wrote from my words.

In addition, I think that activity of discussing the story’s symbols was difficult. However, I solve this problem by discussing with my friends.

On Sunday 29th January, I studied narrative continued from the last week. So, today was makeup class because of the Monday 13th was a holiday. When the teacher came to the class, she checked our names. After that, she read and explained the story “Secret” in part one. After she read the part one finished, she told us to make a group for 4 people and complete the summary of the first part of the story by adding 3 fairly short sentences.

This story is about a girl who feels left out from her mother and Philip’s activities, Killy. One day she becomes interested in the chickens in the yard. Somehow her secret helps her to feel less lonely. When her mother and Phillip leave her alone, she goes to share her secret with the hen. So, sometimes she looks her photo album and miss her at the same time, she looks at the lid of well because she wants to go down to the well.

Next, the teacher read and explained the story in the second part. After she read it finished,Then teacher explain ‘the diagram’ that we had ever done it since the first time that we learned this lessons. So, we crossed it again and we did it follow the story.

I think, exercise C “order a summary of the second part” was easy for me because of I could do it correctly.

I think that I found many difficult words, but I solve this problem by searching them on my smartphone and asking my friends.

I used the imagination in my mind and found the orientation, complication, and climax to comprehend this short story.
